It’s about 3:30a.m. and I’ve just finished taking Lani out for a potty run (checking her feces for worms, of course) and rejoicing that she is drinking and eating - almost on her own. She’s finally asleep, but was very lively for a bit after eating and doing her potty business.
She actually chased me around the office and did some of that typical “puppy hop.” What a joy to see her acting more like a normal puppy. She seems to have gained some weight and her boniness is slowly disappearing. I’m relieved and rejoicing.
I’m also exhausted. Every 2 hours, she has to eat. Then she goes out for a potty run. When she comes back in, she wants to play for a while. I think I’m getting a feel for what new mothers must go through - but it lasts months for them. Hmm, thanks Mom for putting up with all of the typical stuff with a newborn and for all of the extras that I put you through with the cleft palate surgeries and all. It’s a wonder you didn't fade away from exhaustion!
More on Lani later after we visit the vet.
