Life Plan

Wow. It’s been waaaaay too long since I posted here. Sorry about that.

We had a great vacation in San Diego, CA. with friends from there and another family from Atlanta, GA. Hiked around Torrey Pines one day (what a beautiful view there!). Took a bike ride down along the beach and bay another day. Spent a day at the San Diego Zoo! Caleb was fascinated with the snow leopard -- what a gorgeous creature! What an incredible zoo!

I was again reminded of how I am so amazed by the beauty of our country. WOW!

I’m in Monument, Colorado, (near Colorado Springs) right now. I’m meeting with a dear brother (Rick Roberts) to work through a process called a “Life Plan.” The concept is not a new concept for me, but working through the whole process of life goals, dreams, desires, ministry focus (foci?), and more is different.

I usually work through my own life goals, plans and such alone and with the input of Linda, so it will provide -- I hope -- another set of eyes and mouth to speak into my life. I’m not looking for direction so much as for someone to help me fine tune what I want to accomplish in the next 47 years of my life.

I’m reading “Half-Time” by Bob Buford right now. It’s precisely about these kinds of themes. 2 questions that he asks early on in the book are: 1. “For what do I wish to be remembered?” and 2. “If my life were absolutely perfect, how would it look to me?” Tough questions to answer without lots of “think“ time -- and that’s what I hope to begin this week with Rick.

One quote from Buford’s book for your meditation. As a Christian, I am:

A pilgrim, not in control
A steward, not an owner
A soldier, not with security
Blessings on your day!
